the problems

while we were getting along, a lot of problems appeared.
i'll just list the major ones ;-)

-installing the dos
this took a whole day for some reason. the dos 6.22 disks we had
were damaged and the downloaded images didn't boot.

-the lack of power
our p75 wasn't strong enough to emulate any game that used to have more than
one z80 clocked @ 4mhz. this was rather easy to solve,
but setting the whole thing up on new hardware also took a lot of time.

-the blank screen
working with a 21 year old hantarex-monitor was a problem, too.
from time to time the screen went black. we had to replace a lot of
cables to find and correct the problem

-fitting in the pc
in this cocktail-table, there's not much space. we had to fit in
the motherboard, power supply and harddrive, always keeping in mind
that there'll be a lot of radiation comming from the unshielded monitor.
it took several tries to get it in and working.

-the strange clocking-thing
after the pc was mounted, the cpu clocked itself down to 300mhz
and was not able to hold up a stable speed. this made all games
changing their speeds (even the sound) while playing.
we supposed this was a radiation-problem, but it was something different.
after taking the board back out and cleaning the cpu-fan, it worked.

-making dos talk tcp/ip
not only making it talk, also making it share it's harddrive to get read/write
acess via the network. need to say more?
